Design anywhere,
for clients you never
have to manage.

Take finished briefs. We run the client, the site, and the print.

Vyynl builds commercial signage and brand environments. Schools, storefronts, campuses, lobbies. We are opening the design side of our network to designers who run their own process and still want a production team on the other side of the file. You bring the eye and the discipline. We bring the room, the measurements, and the crew.

  • Finished briefs. Photos, measurements, brand kit attached.
  • A project manager owns the client. You design.
  • Two revision rounds. Your fee does not wait on their invoice.

01 / The arrangement

You do the design. We do everything else.

Most freelance signage work asks you to be the designer, the estimator, the site surveyor, the account manager, and the person who explains why the file will not print. We split that at the cut line.

What we carry

  • 01
Winning the work.Sales, proposals, and the client relationship live with our team.
  • 02
The site visit.Measurements, photos, existing conditions, substrate notes.
  • 03
The brief.Scope, brand kit, surface list, constraints, and what the client already said no to.
  • 04
A project manager on every job.Named and assigned before you are. They hold the schedule and the handoffs.
  • 05
Every client conversation.Feedback reaches you translated into design direction.
  • 06
Print, production, install.Production, permits, scheduling, and the crew on the wall.
  • 07
Getting paid.Invoicing and collections are ours. Your fee does not wait on the client.

What you carry

  • 01
Reading the brief properly. The photos and the measurements are your guide.
  • 02
The design mockup itself.Concept and layout, rendered on the client's real photo.
  • 03
Files ready for production.Vectored and correct to scale.
  • 04
Two rounds of revision.Scoped in the brief up front, so nothing is open ended.
  • 05
Hitting the clock. You decide when to take a project on. Once you take it, the date is real. If you cannot make it, release it first.

Take a job, or leave it for someone else

The queue shows only what your certified competencies qualify you for, with the rest visibly locked. Reserve one and it holds to you for fifteen minutes while you read it, kept alive by a heartbeat. Let it lapse and it goes back, with no mark against you.

Everything you have open, and what each one wants

One list of the jobs you are holding, each showing the round you are on and the time left on it. Revisions arrive as direction from your project manager rather than as raw client feedback, written on the job itself, so there is never a thread to go hunting through.

The client files, audited before they reach you

Client artwork arrives messy. A PDF named VECTOR holding a flat image. An SVG wrapping a JPEG. A logo with a white box where transparency should be. We sort and label every file first, so you know what you actually have before you start.

Versioned prompts, not a blank box

Shared templates for environmental mockups, design direction, and copy variants, each one versioned and tested on real surfaces. You are not guessing which phrasing renders a storefront correctly, and you are not rebuilding a prompt someone already solved.

Your file is read before anyone else sees it

Preflight runs the moment an upload lands and the report comes to you first. Checksum, byte size, dimensions against the survey, color mode, bleed. If a check will not clear, you escalate rather than argue with it, and your clock stops while it sits with your project manager.

It goes to install. Then you get paid.

Install photography comes back to you for your portfolio. Your fee releases on client approval rather than on client payment, so you are never waiting behind someone else's invoice, and every job you have finished stays on your record.

03 / Why designers join

Design with clear outcomes. No time wasted.

Clear design briefs, project management, and design consultants help keep your job on task. You will never get overwhelmed with client revisions.

B1

Briefs that are actually finished

Photographed, measured, and scoped by someone who stood in the room.

B2

A project manager owns the process.

They finish the brief, translate the client, and carry the job to the wall.

B3

Work that gets built

Your design gets printed, cut, and mounted. You get the install photos back for your portfolio.

B4

Real environments, real scale

School campuses, corridors, storefronts, murals, window sets, dimensional letters.

B5

You choose what you take

Jobs are offered, not assigned. Releasing a job carries no penalty.

B6

A production team that catches things

Three gates stand between your file and a printer, and preflight runs before any of them.

04 / The chain of command

Approved in 3 steps.

Your work passes three distinct gates, each owned by a different person, each writing its own record. Approved is not releasable.

Layer 1

Design review

A peer designer. They judge craft, fidelity to the brief, and whether the surface count you delivered matches the surface count that was asked for.
PASSES DESIGN REVIEW · NOT A RELEASE
→
Layer 2

Client approval

The client, marking up the proof itself. Every comment is pinned to a coordinate on a specific version.
CLIENT APPROVAL · ON A VERSION
→
Layer 3 · Hard gate

Print release

A second project manager who sits outside design and did not create the file. A peer designer liking the work does not release a print.
INTERNAL PRINT RELEASE · SEPARATION OF DUTIES

05 / Fit

Is this for me?

Being honest about the second list saves us both a week.

This is a fit if you

  • +
Work in vector and can hand off a file that a wide format printer will not send back
  • +
Can render a design onto a real photograph convincingly, in perspective
  • +
Respect a scale drawing and a measurement
  • +
    Are comfortable being edited
  • +
Answer a message within a business day
  • +
Have a few working hours that overlap New York business hours

This is not a fit if you

  • −
Only work in raster and outsource the print file
  • −
    Need open ended revision cycles
  • −
Want to own the client relationship and quote your own scope
  • −
Treat a deadline as a target rather than a commitment
  • −
Are looking for salaried employment. Every assignment here is contract

Newer to the craft and the first list is aspirational? The apprenticeship lane exists for exactly that.

02

Portfolio review

Whether the work reads at distance, whether the type is set by someone who has set type, and whether you have handled a constraint. You hear back either way.

04

Onboarding and certification

Contractor agreement, confidentiality agreement, and six competencies. Choosing the role is not passing it.

05

Your account goes live

The queue you reach follows the competencies you passed. Take the jobs that fit your week. Release the ones that do not.

07 / Questions

The ones that come up every time.

Q1What do I actually get access to?+
Your own login to the Vyynl Design Portal. Four things are closed to every designer account: client price and approved total, commercial terms on the job, the pipeline board and other people's jobs, and deposit or payment status.
Q5My work was approved. Why is it not printing?+
Approved is three different events here and only the last one releases a print. The portal names all three separately.
